33 Warriors

Now in its sixth successful season, the Thai-World Hockey League is represented by players from the United States, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic, and Thailand.

The league’s primary goal is to promote ice hockey in Thailand, while creating a fun experience for everyone involved. The individual team structure ensures there is an even mix of expatriates and Thai nationals on each of the four teams. The makeup of the squads is intended to advance the skill level of Thai players and, most importantly, to build new friendships.

One of the league’s most powerful teams is the Wall St. on 33 Warriors. Led by the blazing speed of Vietnamese-Canadian captain Joe Doan, the Warriors give their opponents fits with a blend of high-octane offence a shut-down defence. Doan is the fastest skater in the league, quite possibly Asia, and also one of the most offensively gifted. He perennially captures the league scoring title.

Assistant captain Scott Whitcomb from Appleton, Wisconsin brings his sandpaper game each night, driving the competition crazy with his grit and tenacity while scoring big goals and making sweet plays. Swedish sensation David “Boomer” Blomqvist is a premiere play-maker and – as his nickname suggests – possesses one of the hardest and most accurate shots in the TWHL. Rounding out the star-studded line-up is Joltin’ Joe Lamantia – a pure sniper with a Shanahan-type one-timer who can also grind it out in the corners.

On the blue line, the Warriors can intimidate and stymie all teams. Former Swedish Division 1 mammoth Per-erik Eriksson can shut down a team single-handedly and also put the puck through the boards with his cannon-like shot. Finnish rearguard Jari Turunen is a prized puck-moving defenseman who also possesses a howitzer, and German Ralf Dittmer adds even more offense from the backend with his timely rushes and powerful point blast.
